Dead Christmas Trees

I’m not sure whether it’s the same where you live, but around me the annual dumping of Christmas trees on the pavements outside houses is almost brutal. The trees lie there, in various poses, waiting to go the big mulcher in the sky.

Sometimes they are grouped together in rather odd collections.

Often there’s an odd relationship with nearby street furniture, or trees that are still intact.

As ever, the ones thrown out with Christmas decorations still attached are especially poignant.

And the stalks play an unexpected role.

Some, like this one, look like they’re trying to get back to where it all started.

Some are just left like abandoned like this, in the middle of pavements. All pretty odd. Christmas is definitely over.
